A tea party with Ghosts

I arrive spontaneously into her loving clutch. A legacy of the inward eye. My place.

Sheltered by her embrace and the familiar scent. The warm cushion of velvet moss beneath my feet. A light breeze brushes my cheek and I listen to the soft lull of ancient leaves. Dusk lights my way.

I come here for a tea party with Ghosts.

Body still and mind intense. I collect their memories. They offer threads of my past self. Guide me to a place I will see and a time I will feel. To someone I will Be.

Clarity ebbs beneath my skin. I honour this moment, this wistful encounter. Thank you for my place.

  1. I have read this a few times and it keeps meaning something different to me. Can you tell me what it means to you?

  2. Hello, thanks for your question.

This can mean whatever you would like it to. I would be interested to hear some of your ideas?

It's pretty hard to say what this means in a concise way, perhaps a few hours and some good coffee and I might get close to its meaning! But for the sake of a response... its about my source. I cant be more specific than that!

  3. Your source? Your Mother?
I thought it might be about loved ones you had lost hence the Ghosts...then I thought it might be about going home and the Ghosts are your memories from your childhood.

  4. Hello again Ben,

My source could be called my Mother, (not my birth Mother), my highest self, my inner child, my creativity, my gift, my deity, whatever you would like to call it. Ultimately whatever this source is, I believe it is the true self that has the knowledge accumulated from each life lived in your existence, it knows our purpose in this life and it may reveal clues to us if we are present enough to receive them. Its hard for me to explain in the limitations of an email so I hope this makes sense.

Those moments of clarity in your life, when you receive an answer... those answers come from an inner wisdom, everyone has a source just some have become disengaged from it.

Your ideas on the poems meaning are so insightful. Thank you for sharing. I have so much more poetry to share, I just wasn’t confident to put it out 'there'.

  5. Right I see, thats pretty cool, you should talk/write more about that concept, its something that I am unfamiliar with coming from a Christian faith but I find it so interesting and it makes sense to me. So you believe in reincarnation? You should have the confidence to put more poems out 'there' this particular one has stopped me in my tracks and made me think. thats a good reason to put more out 'there'.

  6. Glad it made sense! Yes I believe in reincarnation. And lots of other things :) I am glad that this made you think, and you are right, that is a great reason to put up some more.
